Former special aide to the president and a candidate for the 2019 senatorial elections Bong Go has expressed his support for the formation of a Department of Water to ensure that all issues related to water supply and water shortage are addressed.
This is after he heard the sentiments of people in the towns of Lopez and Gumaca in Quezon province where he attended a “Serbisyong Tunay at Natural” rally organized by Rep. Helen Tan.
Gumaca is located at the southernmost part of Quezon province and is part of its fourth district.
According to Malacañang spokesman Salvador Panelo, President Rodrigo Duterte is in favor in the creation of a specialized department for water-related issues and concerns since it will be vital in preventing a repeat of the water service interruption experienced by residents in most areas of Metro Manila and Rizal province.
Go echoed this, and has urged the Local Water Utilities Administration to look into water problems that different municipalities have been experiencing.
He also vowed to prioritize providing solutions for such problems if elected as a senator.
Meanwhile, Go also noted that the Quezon province has been one of the key cities for the administration’s various infrastructure programs including the Philippine National Railways Long Haul project, a 639-kilometer rail track that connects Manila and Bicol, encompassing Lucena City and the town of Gumaca.
