We know that early detection is critical to stop the spread of infectious disease outbreaks. But did you know that there has been early evidence that wearables, like Fitbit devices, can help predict the onset of infectious diseases, like the flu and COVID-19? That’s why we are collaborating with leaders like The Scripps Research Institute and Stanford Medicine on important research to see if wearable data can help detect, track, and contain COVID-19. These studies use data from wearables to determine if tracking changes in heart rate, activity, and sleep can provide an early indication of viral illnesses, like COVID-19, before actual symptoms start. You can easily support COVID-19 related health research, just by wearing your Fitbit device with heart rate tracking and choosing to share your data.
Fitbit has continued to look at contributing to the community in different ways on how people can stay active during these times. Last week, Fitbit announced that all new users would enjoy a free 90-day trial of Fitbit Premium, including access to over 40 new pieces of Premium content for free in the Fitbit app. Premium offers access to hundreds of workouts categorized by time, activity, and fitness level—so that you can easily find what’s right for you during these times.
Understanding that it is a challenging time, Fitbit wants to acknowledge and thank everyone for being a hero while fighting on the frontlines or doing their role while staying home. At Fitbit, your health and wellness have always been and will always the our top priority. By using these resources, Fitbit hopes to help you stay the course of your goals, and make safe and healthy choices while at home, as we all move forward, together.
