Technology brand HONOR achieved an estimated 200% growth in global markets for 2023 as it paraded its offerings in the foldable segment and highlighted its eye comfort technology.
During the Fortune Global Forum 2023 event in Abu Dhabi, HONOR showcased its approach on human-centric innovation under the discussion titled “A New Intelligent World: What’s Next for Smart Devices.”
HONOR Device Co. Ltd. chief marketing officer Dr. Ray Guo said that human-centric innovations will enable new possibilities for the next generation of smart devices.
“Foldables are on the cusp of going mainstream, on-device AI is paving the way for a transformative era, and human-centric technologies, such as eye comfort display technology, are enhancing human-device interaction experiences. From our perspective, this is what’s next for smart devices,” he said.
Following a study from the World Health Organization (WHO) which revealed that at least 2.2 billion people have a vision impairment of blindness globally, HONOR prioritized integrating eye comfort display technology on its devices.
According to the brand, it invested more than $140 million on display technology research and development to produce over 500 display-related patents.
Apart from this, among the customer pain points that HONOR addressed on its foldables are portability, durability, and battery life. One of its devices, the HONOR Magic V2, offers a slim profile while providing the foldable smartphone experience. To ensure that the battery of the device lasts longer, HONOR utilized silicon-carbon battery technology.
With the HONOR Magic V2, HONOR reached a milestone of manufacturing 1 million foldables in its factory and clinched the top best-selling foldable in China with a 25% market share, based on industry analysis firm Omdia.
“The growing scale of production demonstrates how HONOR is driving the industry’s suppply chain forwards – and that the industry is maturing. Surpassing this milestone of 1 million units shows that the supply chain is reaching a stage of mass production where the manufacturing process is more automated and efficient,” the brand said.
