The medical skyline in Mandaluyong is about to change after VRP Medical Center launched recently its new Tower Building right beside its newly-redesigned hospital.
The modern tower will house groundbreaking and pioneering medical innovations such as a Hospitel, Assisted Living Services, Transitional/Step Down Care services, a Hospice, an Oncology Center, a Dementia Unit, Dedicated Operating Rooms for Laparoscopic Surgery, Executive Check-up Rooms, a Breast clinic, a Pain clinic and an Aesthetic Center.
The driving force behind VRP’s resurgence, Virma Vergel De Dios, its president, says that the iconic medical institution has recognized the need to upgrade, expand and keep up with the times as it enters the golden age of globalization and technology.
Apart from the new tower, the hospital has renovated and spruced up its old building, making it a modern sight to behold along EDSA. It refreshed its entire facade and logo which represented its new and improved image. It added 43 new rooms, mostly private rooms, which feature contemporary and eco-friendly designs like LED lights, inverted air-conditioning and low-flow water valves.
The improvements also include a refurbished Event & Conference Hall, a new Chapel, four Clinical Department Offices, a bigger Physician’s Center and an Open Wellness Area meant to give recuperating patients a place to exercise and commune with nature.
The hospital, popularly known before as Polymedic General Hospital, has been a historical landmark in EDSA since the early 70’s.
The new tower was launched in a glitzy groundbreaking rite during VRP’s 45th Anniversary which was covered by media. Guests include Mandaluyong City Representative Alexandria “Queenie” Gonzales, Mandaluyong City Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos, Assistant Regional Director (NCR) of the Department of Health Dr. Ma. Paz Corrales, Vice Chairman of Mt. Grace Hospitals and VRPMC Director Mariano John Tan, Jr., board members and other VIP guests.
In her speech, Vergel De Dios reminiscently paid tribute to the founder of VRP, her father Victor R. Potenciano, “I owe it to my late father for starting everything and his vision to offer affordable but quality health-care for everyone. He is the inspiration of the hospital. He started his practice in Mandaluyong with the Potenciano Polymedic in 1961 and organized the Polymedic General Hospital with some incorporators who are here today, my mom Irma Potenciano and my aunt Dra. Flora Caviled among others.”
The top management were unison in saying that VRP will continuously strive to be the hospital that cares by providing quality health-care services to Filipinos from all walks of life.
