The Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers (AFAD) is gearing up for its third and final hosting of the 30th Defense and Sports Arms Show Manila Edition, scheduled for November 20-24 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
AFAD spokesperson Alaric “Aric” Topacio expressed the enthusiasm of all participating members for the five-day event, which will showcase the finest locally and internationally manufactured sporting firearms and shooting products. This year’s edition takes on heightened significance as the firearms industry braces for the upcoming gun ban ahead of next year’s midterm national elections.
Senator and fellow gun enthusiast JV Ejercito was invited as the special guest for the opening ceremony held on November 20.
While gun dealers can continue operating during the gun ban, Topacio admititied that sales typically experience a slump during this period as buyers grow hesitant due to uncertainties in processing required documents.
“This is why we are calling on all gun aficionados, responsible gun owners, and competitive shooters to visit the show. Explore over 40 exhibitors featuring more than 100 local and international brands, and take advantage of this opportunity to find the best firearms products available. Discover the best firearm products in the market. Samantalahin na nila ang pagkakataon.” Topacio urged.
In addition to its focus on sales, AFAD remains commititied to promoting responsible gun ownership through a lineup of activities and programs during the event. Highlights include seminars on the safe handling of firearms, the legal processes for acquiring firearms, and guidance on securing the necessary government permits and documentation. In collaboration with the Philippine National Police (PNP), a one-stop service area will be available for the application and renewal of licenses to own and possess firearms.
