6 weeks and 1,600 videos later, two beauty creators from each city are now on their way to Tokyo, where only one will be crowned Asia’s Next Top Beauty Creator on Nov 7, 2015
Manila, Philippines – Following months of intense competition, which saw nearly 600 contestants and over 1,600 video challenge submissions across 11 cities, the top two beauty creators from each city have just been announced. These are 22 of the region’s finest beauty creators who will be representing their cities and countries in the Grand Finals of Beauty Bound Asia on 7th November 2015 in Tokyo, Japan.
Beauty Bound Asia: Grand Finals
On November 7th, original beauty YouTuber Michelle Phan as well as seven other of Asia’s top beauty creators, Luv2bfree, Saytiocoartillero, Katerina Beauty Blog, Wengie, So Youngs Beauty Room, Littlemissboo, and Arial Chan, will be in Tokyo to judge and witness the crowning of Asia’s next top beauty creator.
“What an exciting time for content creators. Just a few years ago, I was an aspiring artist myself, so I know first-hand the challenges facing them today. I’m incredibly thrilled to be working with YouTube and SK-II to help crown Asia’s Next Top Beauty Creator and to hopefully empower the next generation of storytellers everywhere.” –Michelle Phan
The winner of Beauty Bound Asia walks away with the title of Asia’s Next Top Beauty Creator, as well as over US$10,000 worth of prizes, including beauty products, an all-expense paid trip to Tokyo and New York, and priceless opportunities to learn and collaborate with some of the world’s top beauty creators!
The Beauty Bound Asia Journey
The journey began in August, where thousands of hopefuls first submitted their introductory videos vying for a spot as a semifinalist in the SK-II presented Beauty Bound Asia on YouTube across 11 cities in the Asia-Pacific region – Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Sydney, and Manila. The top semifinalists in each city attended specially planned beauty and content creation workshops by SK-II and YouTube, following which they attempted two online video challenges.
The next cut saw the playing field decrease to 30 finalists per city. Once again, these beauty creators participated in a full day of makeup, skincare, and content creation workshops led by SK-II and YouTube. The finalists were also required to participate in a Video Hackathon Challenge – where beauty creators had 30 minutes to film themselves doing their entire beauty regimen (skincare, haircare, and makeup included) on the spot.
SK-II Changes the Destiny of Beauty in Asia-Pacific
In line with SK-II’s #changedestiny philosophy to encourage and empower women to break free from their barriers and pursue their passions, SK-II presents Beauty Bound Asia on YouTube – the region’s first of such competitions to search for and nurture budding beauty creators. By providing this platform, the luxury skincare brand hopes to allow passionate beauty lovers across Asia-Pacific to embrace their dreams and creativity to show off their unique talent.
“Innovation is SK-II’s lifeblood. With over 30 years of beauty innovations, SK-II celebrates this shared spirit with YouTube to continue to push boundaries of what’s possible in beauty technology and digital content creation. We are excited to be leading the region’s first beauty creator contest to discover, nurture and build the region’s next generation of beauty creators.”
– Mr. Sandeep Seth, Brand Director, Global SK-II
“By offering YouTube workshops for Beauty Bound Asia, we wanted to inspire and support the next wave of online beauty and fashion creators across the region. We’re happy to continue this momentum among the next generation of Asian beauty creators, and are looking forward to seeing what amazing videos and creators will emerge next on YouTube.”
