Professional printing solutions provider Epson partnered with ASEAN Fashion Designers Showcase (AFDS) for the first time to showcase sustainable fashion at the ASEAN International Fashion Week (AIFW) at the ArtScience Museum in Singapore.
The AIFW is an annual fashion event that spotlights the unique style and diversity in the ASEAN region.
Under the collaboration, Epson and AFDS showcased environmentally conscious textile printing to 850 attendees including the public, designers, and industry partners.
Eleven designers from AFDS paraded their craftsmanship and fashion expertise through clothing items sustainably made with Epson’s digital textile printing technology through the Epson SureColor series printers SureColor F6430, SureColor F9430H, and SureColor F10030.
Epson and AFDS also hosted a panel discussion on the impact of sustainability in the fashion and technology industries with Desmond Gay, regional manager of commercial products at Epson Southeast Asia; Hayden Ng, president founder of ASEAN Fashion Designers Showcase; Rocco Leo Gaglioti, CEO of FNL Network (USA); Aidarkhan Kaliyev, founder of Aspara International Fashion Week (Kazakhstan); Marianna Micelli, founder of Mad Mood Milano Fashion Week (Italy); Eduardo Perez Gonzales Ocantos, fashion designer for Ocantos (Argentina); and Juan Gerscovich, CEO and creative director of Industry of All Nations.
During the panel discussion, Gay emphasized Epson’s advancements in sustainability within the textile printing industry including the company’s dye-sublimation printers with reduced water consumption compared to analogue printing methods.
Gay added that Epson remains committed to becoming carbon negative and underground resource-free. Currently, all electricity used at Epson-owned sites globally are from renewable sources, cutting 400,000 tons of carbon emissions yearly.
According to Gay, Epson is also planning to open its first biomass power plant within the next three years, cementing its commitment to sustainability.
