Generika is not your regular drugstore. Driven by a selfless social purpose, giving back to the Filipino people is at the heart of its operations. Generika Drugstore regularly conducts medical missions in select locations nationwide in communities that are in dire need of immediate access to medical services. To celebrate their 13th anniversary this 2016, Generika organized teams of volunteers, pharmacists, and doctors to conduct a simultaneous medical mission in Bulacan, Cabuyao Laguna, Amadeo Cavite, Taculing Bacolod, Cagayan De Oro, and Taguig last September 24.
A total of 4,607 patients received free check-up and consultation plus free medicines. Each mission site served as one-stop healthcare center where people can find the medical help they need. Patients were guided through a step-by-step process from registration to the actual check-up and one-on-one medical consultation until they are dispensed with the medicines prescribed to them by the volunteer doctors. True to its calling of providing patient counselling or Gabay, Generika pharmacists also conducted an educational talk focused on how to curb the prevalence of anti-microbial resistant bacteria commonly brought about by antibiotic abuse.
Generika President, Teodoro Ferrer, took part in the medical mission held in Baranggay Pinagsama, Phase II, Taguig City. “Generika Drugstore entering its 13th year is an important milestone – heralding a better future ahead especially now that we are part of Ayala Healthcare Holdings Inc.” He remarks that Generika will always continue their mission to bridge the healthcare gap by continuing to provide quality, affordable healthcare and by ensuring the sustainability of their free medical missions every year.
Public service is a shared philosophy among the volunteers, pharmacists, and doctors that participate in the Gabay Generika medical missions. The volunteer doctors emphasized the role that Generika plays in underserved communities. As doctors, they can only provide free consultation but having Generika as a partner closes the loop in bridging the healthcare gap through the quality, affordable generic medicines that the company provide to the less fortunate.
The vital role that Generika Drugstore fulfils is made more evident when medical mission beneficiaries are interviewed. While they have their own unique ways of expressing their gratitude towards Generika, all highlight the fact that in most cases, Generika is their only source of affordable medicine. It is their sincere hope that Generika continues to conduct regular medical missions so that even more families can benefit from this effort.
Generika Drugstore celebrated its 13th year of providing quality, affordable, generic medicines to the Filipino people last September 22, 2016. A hallmark year they celebrated by holding simultaneous medical missions in six locations nationwide, it has reaffirmed their enduring social purpose to bridge the healthcare gap in the country.
