Last year, City Garden Grand Hotel brought to you its 1st Grand Skills Competition, an exclusive event wherein schools from different colleges and universities, that offer the finest hospitality courses (Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Management and Culinary) in Metro Manila, competed on who among them are best when it comes to hospitality and f&b skills.
Due to its success from last year’s match, City Garden Grand Hotel looks forward to another exciting and competitive competition for the schools as it is another year for them to showcase what they got, but this time the competition levelled-up!
The 2nd Grand Skills Competition hosted by City Garden Grand Hotel once again invited colleges and universities in Metro Manila to boast their talents and to challenge the intensified competition categories.
For this year’s competition, the 2nd Grand Skills Competition aims to promote the extraordinary talents of Filipino students in the real industry set-up. The participating schools that will compete are the following; University of Sto. Tomas, Far Eastern University, Philippine Women’s University, Lyceum of the Philippines University and National University.
The competition will be divided into four (4) categories; the “Table Setting with Centerpiece”, wherein participants will showcase their creativity and skills on creating an ideal table setting style for a Filipino wedding event. Next is the “Gourmet Student Meal”, wherein they will produce a culinary worthy student meal dish. Another is “Food Art” where the participants will get a chance to present their skills in food styling and lastly, “Bartending/Cocktail Mixing”, wherein they will make their own booze that is perfect for the summer.
Each participating school will send their outstanding students to compete in the event, three representatives per team for the Table Setting with Centerpiece, two for the Gourmet Student Meal competition and one representative per team respectively in the Food Art and Bartending/Cocktail Mixing. Contestants will be judged through their creativity, unique concept and competence.
The winners of the 2nd Grand Skills Competition will receive a certificate and an award plus captivating prizes including cash prizes and exclusive gift items from City Garden Grand Hotel.
The event is also sponsored by Happy Living Philippines Corporation, Wine Specialist and Beyond Inc. and Cybersound.
This will be a great opportunity for the schools to showcase their exemplary talents and skills in the hospitality industry. Furthermore, the 2nd Grand Skills Competition will also allow students to apply what they’ve learned from their courses and will serve as a great benchmark for them to maximize and flaunt their expertise.
