Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South), a subsidiary of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC), joined the global effort at this year’s International Coastal Cleanup which brought together over a thousand volunteers from various companies and organizations.
Forty-two MPT South employees participated in the said activity where they removed waste at the lakeside of Barangay Caingin, Santa Rosa, Laguna.
MPT South volunteers helped in collecting 2,016.5 kilograms of waste as part of the overall cleanup effort that resulted in 3,989.8 kilograms with 591 filled trash bags containing 126.5 kilograms of PET bottles, 611 kilograms of plastic laminates, 2,938 kilograms of residuals, and 314.3 kilograms of special waste.
According to MPT South vice president for communication and stakeholder management Arlette Capistrano, the company’s involvement in the coastal cleanup is part of its dedication to safeguard ecosystems that surround communities where they improve mobility through expressways.
