PROGENY | From a Family Band to Manila’s Live Music Scene
Progeny’s story began in 2013 when Dr. Gilbert Dela Cruz joined forces with his sons to form a band inspired by their shared love for music.
Over the years, the group expanded its lineup and developed its own identity in Manila’s entertainment scene, becoming a sought-after act for private gatherings, corporate functions, and live music events.
The band has performed at several well-known entertainment venues across Metro Manila, including Hard Rock Cafe, Red Rhino, and Pier Juan, among others.
Their performances continue to appeal to music lovers who grew up listening to New Wave classics, as well as younger audiences discovering the genre.
Three-Time Aliw Award Winners
One of Progeny Band’s most notable achievements is its recognition at the prestigious Aliw Awards, which honor excellence in Philippine live entertainment.
The band has received three Aliw Awards in the category of Best Group Performer in Hotels, Bars, and Music Lounges:
- 2022 – Aliw Award for Best Group Performer in Hotels, Bars, and Music Lounges
- 2024 – Aliw Award for Best Group Performer in Hotels, Bars, and Music Lounges

Beyond performing at Manila’s popular music venues, Progeny has also had opportunities to share the stage with established international and Filipino performers.
The band has served as a front act for international New Wave artists Fra Lippo Lippi and When in Rome, whose music remains popular among Filipino fans of the genre.
Progeny has also provided musical backing for well-known local entertainers, including Gino Padilla, Rannie Raymundo, and Jojo Alejar.
