With the recent ZenFestival, tech enthusiasts were able to finally meet the newest members of the ZenFone family- the ASUS ZenFone 2 Selfie, ZenFone 2 Deluxe and the ZenFone 2 Laser. Digital Filipina is one of the lucky tech fans who are able to experience ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser, and I’m glad to share with you this review.
Design
The ZenFone 2 Laser is almost identical with ASUS ZenFone 2. Its creator made some adjustments to the ZenFone 2 Laser to lessen the thickness to a mere 3.5mm. The volume and shutter button is moved to the back, making the difference but not compromising the comfortable user experience.
The anterior of the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser boasts a 5.5-inch display and its capacitive buttons. You will see the ASUS logo at the top which is usual for a smartphone while the shiny strip at the bottom will help you recognize the device as a ZenFone. The power button of this device is also at the top along with the 3.5mm audio jack, while the micro-USB port is at the bottom.
At the back of the device is the rear camera that features a dual-LED flash and laser autofocus, the volume rocker, and the speaker grills towards the bottom. The back chassis is detachable and so as the battery.
I was captivated by its metallic look and solid grip and am also amazed at its reduced weight.
Display
The 5.5-inch screen that screams with an HD (1280×720 pixels) IPS Display is something that the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser can brag about.
Zenfone 2 Laser displays an eye-delighting image since its color production is excellent and the texts are solid.
I have two words to sum this up; crystal-clear!
Performance
ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KL) is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 410-processor, packed with 2GB RAM and runs with the latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop-powered ZenUI.
This beauty impresses me so far because I can still take photos despite incredible speed and the battery draw is minimal while playing games or even some video editing. I can also attest to its outstanding LTE Download Speeds as it has the latest 4G LTE
Advanced technology, which is up to a staggering 150Mbit/s.
Also, the Zenfone 2 Laser comes with Gorilla Glass 4 display that offers twice the drop-damage resistance of its predecessor; a 2.5X increase in retained strength and is 85% less likely to break in daily use so I bet that resistance should not be a worry on this device.
Another thing about this beauty that captured my attention is its receptiveness. I was amazed that it can respond to every touch, swipe and gestures, even while wearing gloves.
Camera
Using the ZenFone 2 Laser in taking photos is not far as a DSLR experience except that this is way portable. It features a Full Manual Mode with 13 professional settings and controls that can be manually adjusted.
The ZenFone 2 Laser features Laser Auto-Focus technology for the fastest possible clarity, Auto Mode with Zero Shutter Lag to capture the photo you want without missing a moment, Multiframe Fusion technology , PixelMaster technology that automatically adjusts the ratio of maximum contrast, Selfie Panorama up to 140 degrees, dual-LED Real Tone flash that creates the most natural illumination for indoor shots, Low Light Mode Backlight (SUPER HDR) that lets you see clearly through daytime shadow and Super Resolution mode that allows you to capture detailed images at resolutions of up to 52MP, and beautification mode to enhance one’s beauty.
Below are the stunning photos that were captured by the ZenFone 2 Laser’s 13MP PixelMaster camera:
Connectivity
Like other smartphones, MicroUSB, Bluetooth, WiFi, and GPS connectivity are available in ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser. Conversation through this device is clear since signal reception is not an issue and wireless connectivity is as fast as a blink of an eye.
Battery
The ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser comes with a 2400 mAh Li-Polymer battery. As I previously mentioned, battery draw is minimal for ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser. With my experience, I was connected to a Wifi and it lasted a day surprisingly. This one is ideal for travelers since it’s battery-efficient.
And the price! At P7,695, very affordable!
