The Department of Environment and Natural Resources is willing to give assistance to workers that will be affected by the suggested one year closure of the Boracay Island.
“Magkakaroon tayo ng plano diyan, lalo na ‘yung mga workers na madi-dismiss,” Leones said in an interview on Balitanghali, noting that they will speed up rehabilitation to minimize the damage to workers.”Magkakaroon tayo ng plano diyan, lalo na ‘yung mga workers na madi-dismiss,” Leones said in an interview on GMA News show Balitanghali.
Leones also expressed confidence that the rehabilitation efforts will be worth it in the end, citing examples like Phuket and Pattaya in Thailand who underwent the same situation of being closed down and came back with improved profits and a sustainable improvement.
Leones also asked for the help of business owners and locals, saying that their cooperation for the clean-up will speed up the rehab process of the Boracay island.
