I was still halfway through my Christmas list a week ago and was kind of in a panic as almost all names on the undone half are my godchildren’s—all 16 of them!
I cannot pretend to know each one of them closely as to determine what each of them wants as a Christmas gift. Plus, many of them live in different provinces. And so, after much thinking, I decided to be the practical Ninang and just send them cash gifts.
Then again there’s 146 of them. HOW.TO.SEND.TO.EACH.ONE.
With some tinkering on my phone, I realized why not bank transfers?
Of course, transferring to 14 bank accounts (their parents’ mostly) would be time-consuming and costly because banks have all these additional charges, right? See, I don’t buy that. In this digitally driven age, that’s just not true anymore—you don’t have to live with all these charges and wasted hours on bank errands. There’s GCash!
GCash, which for those who don’t know, is the leading mobile wallet app in the Philippines, is not just for bills payments or paying with QR codes. It has a seamless bank transfer feature for its users that charges no fees and delivers real-time, just like bank-to-bank transfers.
I have reached out to my godchildren’s parents to tell them about my plan and they were more than willing to send bank details where I could send my cash gift. Some of them even have GCash accounts, so that makes things even easier for me!
I told them I’ll send the cash on the 24th, Christmas eve itself. Yes, because GCash money transfer works even on holidays. Isn’t that just awesome?
The feature is so easy to use. Just make sure you have enough funds on the app, which you can do by cashing in through linking your bank account or paying actual cash at 7-Eleven counters or payment centers.
Then go to the Send Money to Bank Account option. Input the amount to send, account name and number, then press send. The cash is sent instantly. No lines, no charges, no hassle!
So that’s most of the other half of my Christmas list done. This might just be my least stressful holiday season!
