Family movie nights just got a little spookier! Here’s what to add to your Halloween watchlist.
Halloween doesn’t always have to mean scary movies, sleepless nights, and kids hiding behind pillows. Sometimes, all you need is a little mystery, a few friendly monsters, a bowl of popcorn, and the whole family gathered in front of the TV.
As a parent, choosing what to watch can be a challenge. The kids want something exciting, the older ones want a little suspense, and we parents just want something everyone can enjoy without having to change the movie halfway through.
With Halloween just around the corner, it’s the perfect excuse to plan a cozy movie night at home.
And with PLDT Home Fiber Unli All Plan 1499, which comes with an HBO Max Standard subscription, finding entertainment for family bonding becomes even more convenient.
10 Halloween Movies and Shows Worth Adding to Your Family Watchlist
Not every Halloween movie needs to be terrifying. Some are funny, some are full of magical adventures, and others offer just enough mystery to keep everyone curious.
Here are some recommended titles worth checking out this Halloween weekendfeatured in the PLDT Home and HBO Max Halloween content lineup. Since every child has a different comfort level with spooky stories, parents should check the age ratings and content before pressing play.
- Beetlejuice
For families with older kids who enjoy supernatural comedy.
If your family enjoys quirky characters, strange adventures, and a little Halloween chaos, Beetlejuice deserves a spot on your watchlist.
With its unusual humor, memorable characters, and unmistakable Halloween atmosphere, it’s the kind of movie that can spark conversations long after the credits roll.
Just remember that its darker themes and humor make it more appropriate for older viewers.
- Adventure Time: Side Quests
For kids who love colorful adventures and imaginative storytelling.
Sometimes, the best Halloween entertainment isn’t really about ghosts or monsters. It’s about exploring unusual worlds and meeting characters who make every adventure interesting.
Adventure Time: Side Quests brings that playful fantasy spirit to the watchlist, making it an option for families who prefer imagination over intense scares.
- Steven Universe: Horror Club
For cartoon fans who enjoy a little mystery.
A Halloween watchlist wouldn’t be complete without a cartoon that knows how to mix humor, friendship, and spooky surprises.
Steven Universe: Horror Club is a fun choice for families who want something with a Halloween feel without committing to a full-length movie.
- The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball
For families who love silly humor and unexpected adventures.
If there’s one thing kids enjoy, it’s a show that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball offers colorful characters, unusual situations, and the kind of humor that can get both kids and parents laughing.
It’s a good way to balance out a Halloween marathon filled with darker stories.
- Regular Show: The Lost Tapes
For older kids who enjoy offbeat animated comedy.
For families who like their cartoons a little strange, Regular Show: The Lost Tapes is another title to consider.
Its unusual storytelling and unpredictable adventures fit nicely into a Halloween-themed viewing session, especially for viewers who appreciate quirky humor.
- Wicked: For Good
For families who enjoy musicals, fantasy, and magical stories.
Not everyone wants ghosts and jump scares on Halloween night.
Sometimes, witches, magical worlds, and beautiful musical numbers are more than enough.
Wicked: For Good offers a different kind of Halloween viewing experience, with a story about friendship, identity, and looking beyond first impressions.
It’s also a great pick for families who enjoy singing along to their favorite movie soundtracks.
- The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
For families who prefer colorful, action-packed adventures.
For kids who would rather see familiar gaming characters than spooky creatures, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is a title to keep on your family entertainment radar.
Its colorful adventure theme offers a change of pace from traditional Halloween stories.
- Halloween Wars
For families who love Halloween decorations and creative competitions.
Who says Halloween viewing has to be limited to movies and cartoons?
Halloween Wars brings a different kind of excitement as talented creators put together elaborate Halloween-themed designs.
It’s especially fun for families who love decorating, baking, or coming up with creative Halloween ideas.
You might even find inspiration for your own celebration at home.
- Halloween Baking Championship
For parents and kids who enjoy baking shows.
If your family loves sweet treats, Halloween Baking Championship is another entertaining option.
From creatively decorated cakes to spooky desserts, the show turns Halloween into a celebration of imagination and baking skills.
Fair warning: watching this might make everyone crave something sweet!
- Scariest House in America
For older viewers who enjoy spooky homes and unusual interiors.
For families with older kids who enjoy Halloween-themed entertainment, Scariest House in America offers a different kind of viewing experience.
Instead of fictional monsters, the focus is on homes with eerie appearances and unusual features.
It’s an interesting pick for viewers who enjoy spooky settings without necessarily watching a horror film.
Making Halloween Movie Nights More Enjoyable at Home
One thing I’ve learned about family entertainment is that the simplest moments can become the most memorable.
You don’t need elaborate Halloween decorations or expensive activities to make the evening special.
Prepare everyone’s favorite snacks, dim the lights, bring out the blankets, and let each family member choose something from the watchlist.
For younger kids, start with lighthearted animated shows. Save the darker movies and more suspenseful titles for older family members.
And if someone gets scared? There’s absolutely nothing wrong with switching to a comedy!
After all, family movie nights should be about enjoying time together, not seeing who can survive the scariest scene.
