Embracing the spirit of the season, five-star serviced residences partner Joy~Nostalg Hotel & Suites by Accor hosted its ceremonial annual Christmas Tree Lightning event for the benefit of Liter of Light.
Through this, Joy~Nostalg Hotel & Suites provided conducive study conditions for children and safe pathways for Liter of Light, a community that’s only 90 minutes away from the hotel’s location in Ortigas central business district without proper access to electricity.
Joy~Nostalg’s associates called “Heartists” donated 100 solar lamps for the use of Liter of Light. An additional set of 100 light sources were also raised by Joy~Nostalg through the help of its customers, stakeholders, and guests.
Liter of Light founder Illac Diaz underscored how energy poverty is an issue even during the bright festive season. The organization has installed more than 350,000 bottle lights in over 15 countries.
“We often notice how our city becomes brighter during the festive season, but energy poverty still makes this same spark of Christmas a little harder to see in so many villages,” Diaz said.
“With Joy~Nostalg providing solar lamps hand-built by corporate volunteers, these lights will be sure to brighten so many lives this Christmas,” he added.
Apart from Liter of Light, Joy~Nostalg also collaborated with Negrense Volunteers for Change Foundation (NVC) and Nespresso, recycling 3,700 coffee capsules into handcrafted donations.
The NVC is an organization that provides proper nutrition for poor children and sustainable livelihood opportunities for families.
Additionally, Joy~Nostalg also supported the livelihood of a small town in Bohol by purchasing basket hampers for the hotel’s gifting goodies.
Last year, Joy~Nostalg backed up an artisan project of San Juan City Jail’s Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) where the hotel showcased parol products in the lobby. Proceeds of the sold hand-made parols were given to the families of PDLs.
