Meralco launches the first MTECH 2015, a 3-day Technology and Innovation Summit, in a move that marks the company’s continued push to create innovative solutions in the power Industry for customer service advancement.
MTECH culminates in a forum on Disruptive Technologies, featuring innovations that change the power industry. MTECH 2015 is called “Visioneering”, focusing on the creation of a future that opens new opportunities for innovative solutions to increase consumer interaction, build consumer empowerment, improve energy efficiency, integrate renewable and distributed resources, expand opportunities for electric transformation while ensuring affordable, sustainable and reliable energy.
Meralco leaders spearheaded the inaugural MTECH forum, with Meralco Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, Meralco President and CEO Oscar S. Reyes, Meralco SVP and Head of Customer Retail Services & Corporate Communications Alfredo S. Panlilio, and Meralco Chief Technology Adviser Gavil D. Barfield at the helm.
In his talk, Barfield said, “Vision necessitates transformation. And technology will play an integral part in enabling this transformation. In the past years, Meralco has put new technologies into its system, but we know there is still more to be done. In the coming years, Meralco will definitely employ disruptive technologies to achieve the vision that we have dared to imagine now.”
Marthyn Cuan, Meralco VP and Chief Information Officer and key enabler of MTECH, said, “Technology is a powerful instrument to differentiate Meralco Business from the rest as we engage and empower customers. A strong Business & Technology partnership will shape a brighter future for Meralco and its customers.”

IBM’s Scalable Solutions Architect & Master Inventor Kerrie L. Holley talks about Mobility on how it enables companies to re-imagine their business models to capture new value.
Executives from globally-renowned tech firms also flew in to the country to talk about revolutionary technologies challenging traditional business models, including IBM’s Scalable Solutions Architect & Master Inventor and Fellow Kerrie L. Holley. His talk, entitled “Rethink Disruption” focuses on the use of Disruptive Technologies to spark progress in the country and uplift the lives of Filipinos.
IBM Analytics Chief Data Scientist Dr. Olav Laudy and Dell’s South Asia Head of Big Data & Cloud Practice talked about the future of utility companies via utilization of big data, analytics & cloud. Siemens ASEAN Chief Technology Officer & Engineering Head Anand Gopal Menon and Opower APAC Managing Director Sajin Rehan talked about smart technologies and customer applications.
