Newly crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Chelsea Manalo embraces another role as she’s also announced as the newest ambassador for telco giant PLDT Home.
Manalo, who represented Bulacan, bested 52 other candidates by showing her beauty and confidence in the swimwear and evening gown segments and in the question and answer portion.
The Filipino American became the first Black woman to be crowned Miss Universe Philippines.
“As a woman of color, I have always faced challenges in my life. I was told that beauty has standards,” she said. “But for me, I have always believed in my mother, to always believe in yourself, uphold the vows that you have,” Manalo said.
“Because of these, I am already influencing a lot of women who are facing me right now. As a transformational woman, I have here 52 other delegates with me who have helped me to become the woman I am. Thank you,” she added.
Manalo will be the country’s bet to the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico in September to vie for the 5th title for the Philippines.
