As one of the leading consumer technology names in the world, OPPO continues to leverage technology to improve its products and services by integrating smart robotics and self-developed artificial intelligence algorithms to its research and development (R&D) processes.
One of the smart technologies OPPO is utilizing for product development include intelligent robotic arms. Designed to work 24 hours a day and seven days a week, the said robots are made to perform tasks with extreme precision and consistency.
In the different labs where OPPO develops products, AI and robotics also play a pivotal role.
The OPPO Intelligent Imaging Lab is where the brand creates replicas of different scenes for photography and videography testing for its smartphones. At the said lab, OPPO constructs scenarios where smartphone users often take photos including a restaurant, bar, karaoke room, shopping mall, and more. Robots roam around to test the cameras by taking photos on their own.
OPPO also has its Communication Lab where a robotic arm mimics real smartphone user behaviors when scrolling through social media, browsing the web, and performing other tasks. Through this, OPPO is able to test whether its devices can maintain connectivity even in challenging network conditions.
At the OPPO NFC Lab, smart robotic arms handle an automated testing process that can run 24 hours a day, unattended. Here, smartphones are tested to ensure the read and write accuracy on different NFC terminals.
Apart from deploying smart robots to its laboratories, OPPO also established its first large-scale data center called the OPPO AndesBrain (Binhaiwan Bay) IDC in January 2020.

The OPPO AndesBrain (Binhaiwan Bay) IDC also exemplifies the company’s dedication to integrating infrastructure and business innovations to reduce carbon emissions. The data center uses a rainwater harvesting system for cooling circulation. It has also adopted immersion cooling instead of air cooling for high-performance GPU server clusters, which has led to impressive improvement in energy efficiency.
According to OPPO, it will continue its commitment to innovation, something that it’s been doing and improving for nearly 20 years.
