Florida-based international cruise company Carnival Cruise Line (Carnival), and its local partner, United Philippine Lines (UPL), opened a state-of-the-art two-level facility called the UPL-Carnival Team Member Center in response to the growing global demand for seafarers as the industry bounces from the effects of the pandemic.
“Because the UPL-Carinval TM Center is equipped with top-of-the-line equipment and well-trained staff, Filipinos looking to explore the world as shipboard talents can expect an easy and efficient application and training process. We guarantee smooth sailing from the get-go,” said Carnival Cruise Line Crew and Travel Operations vice president Richard Brearley.
Carnival positioned the training hub inside the STI Pasay-EDSA campus, which it said is a location accessible to students taking up courses related to hospitality, tourism, culinary programs, marine transportation, and marine engineering.
UPL and Carnival have been working together to help potential Filipino seafarers have a seamless employment journey from graduating from maritime school until they step onboard a Carnival cruise ship.

Louise Araneta-Marcos, the First Lady of the Philippines, graced the inauguration ceremony for the said facility.
