There have been a recent increase for us to find ways in enhancing and protecting our greatest vanity, our skin. With every visit to the local store, grocery or mall we would take that short trip to the beauty aisles to check out the latest creams, lotions and other potions that promise to zap blemishes, smoother and even out or whiten skin.
However, these remedies aren’t enough for fixing discolorations such as acne scars, age spots, sun spots, melasma, birthmarks and even, tattoos. Having this fixed professionally will definitely cost a lot.
Not with Skin Station, the Philippines’ leading clinic in painless diode laser hair removal (LHR) ’s. They offer a non-invasive treatment powered by Q-switched Nd:YAG laser, the DERMAX MedLight Laser. It promises to rejuvenate skin, targets and corrects pigmentation and age spots, and removes birthmarks and tattoos. Sounds expensive? Prices start at P5,000 per session only!
What is that laser treatment?
Unsure of how DERMAX MedLight laser works? Let’s look at the top three common skin discoloration problems that could use the help of MedLight:
1. Melasma. Common with Asian women and considered to be the most difficult to treat among hyperpigmentation cases. Often, it manifests in a form of dark patches on the face which can be associated with age, hormonal factors, stress, genetic predisposition, pregnancy, use of oral contraception and sun exposure. Topical treatments are often applied such as hydroquinone, kojic acid, retinol and TCA, however it’s not enough. MedLight laser treatment creates an invisible beam of light that is pulsed repeatedly at a fraction of a second. The pigments in the dark patches of the skin are fragmented and reabsorbed over a six- to eight-week period. The treatment is simple, non-invasive, with minimal risk and recovery time.
2. Birthmarks. Nobody knows what causes birthmarks which can have a variety of sizes, shapes and colors. Another type of birthmark is the port-wine stain which are red or purple marks that commonly affect the face and neck. They are caused by abnormal bleeding of blood vessels in the affected area. If left untreated they eventually get darker.
3. Tattoos. About 20% to 30% of inked people wants to remove their tattoo – from decorative to cosmetic tattoos such as eyebrow, eyeliner and lip stain tattoos. Other methods of removing these marks involve surgery or the use of acid which could damage the skin. For tattoo removal and treatment of birthmarks, the Q-switched Nd:YAG laser is commonly used as it delivers laser beam at 1064 nm for dark ink and 532 nm for colored ink. Micro-adjustments for spot size and depth can be done. Treatment may take between three to six sessions, depending on the depth of the tattoo and the inks used.
