Once in my life, I was part of the Telus International Philippines family, and I am very grateful and proud to be one. The company lives by the rule of “Work hard, Party harder! And that is why Telus peeps are a bunch of happy employees. The work environment is challenging, yet it offers a family-oriented vibes, wherein almost everyone is free to approach the upper management and we address each other on a first name basis. Aside from being competent in the industry, Telus International Philippines give opportunities to its employees to give back to the community and be part of charitable deeds such as Gawad Kalinga and the likes. If I were to ask if I would recommend Telus to my friends and loved ones to become their next workplace, my answer will be a massive YES!
Leading outsourcing services provider TELUS International Philippines (TIP) has been selected as the recipient of the 2015 National Outstanding Volunteer Award for an Organization, the only Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company to win the Search for Outstanding Volunteers. This award was given by the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), the government agency mandated to promote and coordinate volunteer programs and services in the country.
‘We give where we live’
TELUS International Philippines’ victory stems from its significant contributions to the community. The company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) philosophy – ‘we give where we live’ – is anchored in the belief that it is both a responsibility and a privilege to give back to the communities where team members live, work and serve.
“Our company conducts year-round community building initiatives that give our team members the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of others. They get to help our partner organizations with various programs centered on youth”, says Warren Tait, TIP’s Vice-President for Brand, Marketing and Culture.
TIP prides itself with how well social responsibility in integrated into its operations. The companyhas its own foundation, the TELUS International Philippines Community Board, which provides $100,000 annually in one-time funding grants for projects of grassroots organizations in the areas of health, education and environment.
The company organizes an annual TELUS Days of Giving in public schools in Metro Manila during which team members volunteer in the school refurbishing, painting and clean-up. TIP also supports Kythe Foundation in its Adopt-a-Hospital program. It continues to partner with a range of non-profit organizations that share the same ultimate goal of alleviating poverty in the Philippines and enhancing the health and well-being of children and families. These include Gawad Kalinga, Bantay Bata, Bantay Kalikasan, Hands On Manila and Virlanie Foundation. TIP’s partnerships with various organizations in the conduct of development projects have transformed more than 3,632 volunteers in the workplace into productive citizens who touched the lives of the people in the communities they helped.
The Search for Outstanding Volunteers is an annual activity that aims to recognize the exemplary performance and dedication to services of Filipino volunteers across the nation in building strong communities and empowering lives. It also serves as a platform for promoting and nurturing volunteerism as a time-enduring tradition and a significant component of the Filipino way of life.
