The Asian Peace and Unity Corps Philippines (APUC) under the umbrella of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) through its Search and Selection Panel on PEACE Awards has selected DWDD 1134 kHz KATROPA RADIO as one of the nominees for “Best Station” in Radio Category.
The UPF bestows the PEACE Awards in recognition to deserving individuals and companies in their field of expertise that contributes to peace, unity and prosperity in the country.
The awarding ceremonies is scheduled on January 31, 2015 during the Asian Summit 2015 with the theme “Toward Peace, Security and Human Development in the Asia Pacific Region” to be held at the historic Manila Hotel.
DWDD is humbled on this nomination for the UPF PEACE Awards. With its mission to support national goals and helps accomplish DND and AFP missions by serving as an effective medium of information for its military and civilian personnel and the general public, DWDD 1134 kHz Katropa Radio aims to be a modern and innovative station that will serve as the best source of relevant information and wholesome entertainment that will promote patriotism, values formation, peace and commitment to the service of the nation.

Junior Katropa is the radio station’s youth arm in promoting ideals against violence and radicalism. The program promotes peace and unity among the youth to prepare them as better citizens in the future. It also aims to train, mentor and bring out the best of these students.
Tinig Kabataan Radio, every Sunday 1:00PM-3:00PM, hosted by selected talented youth with ages ranging from 15 to 25. These young Filipinos dedicate their talents and capabilities to empower youth through leadership, advocacy and education and promote peace, unity and prosperity. This program encourages the youth to take control of their life situations while building self-esteem and improving the quality of life for themselves and other talented youth.
Pulis at Komunidad, Saturday’s 6:00PM-7:00PM, hosted by Jong SIndac and PSupt. Celso Bael of PNP Police Community Relations Group Operations, provides a venue for the PNP to share activities, achievements, and directions in promoting peace in the communities.
My Light Radio, Saturdays 4:00PM-5:00PM, promotes positive social change in the Philippines. This program highlights motivation and inspiration that promotes peace and unity among Filipino communities. My Light Radio shares the radio station’s mission and vision in sharing insights toward a more prosperous Philippines.
Bloggers’ Hour, in partnership with the Philippine Bloggers Network and hosted by bloggers Marlon Magtira, Raffy Pedrajita, and Ian Bacungan, Fridays 11:00AM to 12:00PM, aims to redefine how the youth should use social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) to promote patriotism, values formation, peace and commitment to public service. Targeting young Netizens in the Philippines, the program showcases the latest trends in technology, lifestyle, and more, and how these developments can contribute to the youth in becoming better citizens.
Anti-Drugs Ako with Bubot Sarmiento. The programs aims to educate the youth in supporting and strengthening the fight against drug abuse. It also aims to promote better welfare for the youth for them to have a life free from violence because of drug abuse. The programs also aims to support the establishment of more rehabilitation centers and livelihood programs.
Pilipino Muna with Atong Balatong airs on weeknights 8PM-10PM. Authentic Filipino Music at its best. The program showcases the Filipino culture through music that is composed for the Filipinos.
