Senator Bong Go made a short manifestation during the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee Hearing that addressed the alleged irregular pandemic contracts connected to businessmen close to President Rodrigo Duterte.
Go asks for transparency and truth to conclude the investigation and cases charged to those who should be held accountable so the government can focus on dealing with the COVID-19 crisis.
“Again, Mr. Chairman, I respect this institution. But for me, we should only go for the truth. Let’s just be all fair in this. I’m with you in wanting to know the truth.”
Go stated that President Rodrigo Duterte was often blamed for anomalies happening within the government that are based on speculations. He claimed that unscrupulous individuals were using the president’s name to their gains.
Respetohin po natin ang will of the people,” he added. He called for honesty and fairness and to not engage in the political circus of the matter as the government is focusing on solving the pandemic.
The manifestation stemmed from the probe on questionable deals the government signed into with Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation in 2020 and 2021, which were said to be connected to the president.
