The upcoming 2025 elections bring together two health reform champions with a promise of guaranteeing quality healthcare services especially for the poorest Filipino families.
HEALTH ALLIANCE PH (HEAL PH) Party-List has announced its first nominee Dr. Jondi Flavier and renowned physician Dr. Willie Ong as its frontrunners for the May 2025 midterm elections.
Other key nominees include former Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Dr. Eric Tayag and former Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Undersecretary Major General Bennie de Leon.
To commemorate the event, Atty. Gilbert Lauengco, chief of staff for Dr. Willing Ong, signed the Manifesto of Solidarity and Collaboration on December 12 in Makati, with Dr. Jondi Flavier, Dr. Tayag, General de Leon, and other HEAL PH nominees present.
Inspired by the legacy of the late Senator Dr. Juan Flavier, known for his advocacy of “Bringing a Doctor to the Senate,” HEAL PH will carry a campaign message of “Let’s DOH it again.”
HEAL PH strives to advocate for the G.O.A.L. program which means “Gamot” or free medicine, “Operasyon” or free medical operations, “Abiso” or correct health advice, and “Lab Tests” or free laboratory tests.
The said initiatives will be prioritized for urban poor communities and remote barangays, in support of the Universal Health Care Act of 2019, known as “Kalusugan Pangkalahatan.”
Among the plans of HEAL PH include the distribution of health cards with unlimited medical coverage which provides Filipinos access to basic care and specialized health treatments.
Additionally, Dr. Ong also pledged to champion the recruitment, training, and deployment of young doctors to underserved communities, similar to what Dr. Juan Flavier started in 1993.
