KakaoTalk, the largest mobile messaging application in South Korea launched its first TV commercial in the Philippines. It features Korea’s phenomenal boy band Big Bang and with the Philippines’ pop princess, Sarah Geronimo to advertise the application to the market.
KakaoTalk is a free mobile messaging application that provides 1on1 or group chat that supports multimedia sharing and voice calls feature that can support up to 5 participants. Including to that is the cute animated/sound/still emoticons that can be used.

As KakaoTalkPH enters the market and compete with other mobile messaging applications, KakaoTalkPH offers unique features, the “Plus Friend” and “KakaoPage”.
The “Plus Friend” that allows the users to add celebrities and know their updates. Adding to that unique feature is the KakaoPage, another unique feature of KakaoTalk. It offers a stage for users to create and sell their own stickers and other applications. It serves as a market for users.
So it is clearly KakaoTalk is not here just to provide what the other mobile messaging applications offers. Noah Hwang, public relations lead of Kakao Philippines’ said “We want to create an ecosystem”.
KakaoTalk began as a free mobile messaging service back in 2010, and in just three years it has developed into a social platform that provides a wide range of content and services including business marketing, commerce, games, digital content and fashion. A social platform where stakeholders including business partners, developers, and users can grow together.
“They could use the advertising platform Plus Friend to maximize the traffic here in the Philippines. We also do revenue shares for the game developers so they can actually exploit the KakaoTalk traffic to reach out to all the smartphone users here in the country,”

With currently has over 100 million users, maximum daily traffic is 5.2 billion messages (as of early this year)
In the Philippines, Kakao Corp. will focus on listening to feedbacks so they can accommodate what the market needs.
KakaoTalk is available on iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows, Bada and PC.
