Global technology leader OPPO highlighted its “Technology for Mankind, Kindness for the World” commitment in its recently launched 2023 Sustainability Report that focused on the company’s long-term plans towards eco-friendly processes and operations.
According to the brand, the five key areas where it’s focusing its sustainability efforts are sustainable development, virtuous innovation, environmental protection, ecosystem engagement, operation and compliance, and caring for employees.
In 2023, OPPO pledged to achieve carbon neutrality across its global operations by 2050 which it plans to complete through key actions like the use of renewable energy and improvements in energy efficiency.
OPPO said that it recorded a decrease in its annual CO2 emissions, down by 2,819 tons with solar panels. Additionally, it saved 8,947 tons more with energy-efficient manufacturing.
The tech firm also recycled approximately 1.1 million devices through the Trade-In Service in the Chinese market.
Part of OPPO’s sustainability goals is to foster partnerships with communities, governments, non-profit organizations, research institutes, and worldwide users.
Last year, OPPO donated RMB 23.21 million to education foundations and charity organizations to support environmental protection, youth empowerment, digital inclusion, and health and wellbeing initiatives.
