Global smartphone brand Xiaomi recently hosted an informative session where aspiring young Filipino content creators discovered tips and insights from some of the country’s recognized creatives.
During the Xiaomi 14T Series Masterclass, journalist Atom Araullo, actresses and creators Gabbi Garcia and Janina Vela, director and photographers Charlon Serrano and Melvin Anore, and wedding photographer Jaja Samaniego discussed various topics including visual identity and the art of storytelling.
“Everybody can be visual storytellers and all of us understand the visual medium very well,” said Araullo, who emphasized how the professional-like photography capabilities of the Xiaomi 14T Series is ideal for mobile visual storytelling.
“Normally, people get shy and intimidated when they see someone take out a bulky camera, but they’re less self-conscious when it’s a phone camera,” he added. “That makes the Xiaomi 14T Series an even better tool for capturing real moments.”
Meanwhile, wedding photographer Jaja Samaniego imparted hacks on how to capture portraits that evoke emotions, noting that essential tricks like making a subject move, getting up close, and using natural light can make a huge difference.
“We’re very lucky that we have really advanced technology with the Xiaomi 14T Series, and you don’t have to worry about the technical aspect of photography – you really have to shoot with intention,” she said.
“Capturing portraits is not just a photo, it’s a connection you make with your subject,” she added.
The new Xiaomi 14T Series boasts a camera array that’s co-designed by renowned camera technology maker Leica.
