It’s the first day of a new school year, and for moms, that can only mean one thing: the start of another packed schedule. After the long summer break, the daily routine of preparing uniforms, packing lunches, helping with homework, and handling last-minute school requirements comes rushing back. Add a full-time job or a home-based business to the mix, and it’s easy to see why motherhood is both one of the most challenging and the most rewarding roles there is.
Fortunately, technology has become a valuable ally for today’s moms. With reliable home connectivity and the right digital tools, managing work, family, and business responsibilities can become more efficient and less overwhelming.
As a Madiskarte Mom with two kids heading back to school in just a few days, I’m approaching this school year with a new goal: becoming more tech-smart and intentional about the way I use technology. It’s no longer just about knowing what digital tools are available, but understanding how to use them effectively. By learning to use technology more thoughtfully, I can also teach my kids to do the same. And here’s how I plan to do just that.
Treat AI as an Ally
This might be a controversial take, but rather than being overly cautious about AI, why not look at it as an ally? Like any technology, its value depends on how we use it. For busy moms juggling work, business, household responsibilities, and their children’s education, AI can serve as a helpful assistant that takes some of the load off our shoulders.
Being familiar with AI can also help us pass on the same mindset to our children. Instead of treating it as something too complex for your minds or something best avoided, we can guide them in using it responsibly and thoughtfully. After all, AI is already everywhere – woven into the apps, platforms, and tools they interact with daily. What we want to avoid is letting our children engage with it unintentionally and without proper guidance from us.
It’s important to help our children understand that AI is a partner, not a replacement for human creativity, effort, or judgment. By guiding them with this mindset, we can help our kids grow into more confident, capable, and responsible digital citizens.

Count On a Reliable Internet Partner
So much today depends on a strong and reliable internet connection at home. When the WiFi is stable, everything else becomes easier. Kids can attend online classes and submit schoolwork without interruptions, moms can join client meetings and manage their businesses without having to step away, and the whole household can move through the day without the frustration of dropped calls, lagging video, or endless loading screens.
As moms, we often stick to what’s tried and tested – especially when it comes to things that affect the whole family. For our household, PLDT Home has been that dependable partner. With so much already on our plates, internet connection issues shouldn’t be one of them. Instead, we can focus our time and energy on what truly matters: our children, our work, and the goals we’re building for our family’s future.
Be in a Community
Moms, as busy as we are, still need time with our amigas. More than a breather, it’s a chance to connect, learn, and remind each other that we’re not in this alone. And in a season as full as back-to-school, that kind of community matters more than ever.

This is something that feels like home to me, especially as part of Madiskarte Moms PH (MMPH). Through the years in this community, I’ve been able to build real digital skills, exchange practical tips, and learn from women who share the same challenges – and the same joys – that come with motherhood. From managing school-season routines to growing our own businesses, it’s a space where we grow together, support one another, and become more confident in navigating today’s digital world.
