There is no doubt that Diwa has been consistently giving education the attention it deserves. Mr. Saturnino Belen, president of Diwa, was serious when he said that Diwa was able to maintain its position of leadership in the advancement of Philippine basic education. This year, Diwa once again organized the National Finals of Pasiklaban sa Paaralan. This is another testimony that Diwa Learning Systems Inc. is not just the country’s leading provider of print and digital educational resources, but also an organization that is really compassionate in being an instrument of an excellent education here in the Philippines.
Since Diwa is also committed to innovation, they took this year’s Pasiklaban sa Paaralan National Finals to the next level by taking the solar system as a theme to highlight its phenomenally out of this world setup and influence.
“Since it took off 14 years ago, long before the K-to-12 Program and when pen and paper was its primary competition tool, Pasiklaban already saw how important it is for students to have a fun learning environment that allows them to think critically and to develop their collaboration skill,” said Diwa Executive Vice President Elma Ropeta while explaining Pasiklaban’s strong appeal in attracting the participation of schools across the country.
The National Finals, as expected, was a blast! Although only six were crowned winners, all finalists, hailing from different schools in the country, gave such an exciting match that it rocked the auditorium of The Mind Museum at Global City, Taguig last March 21. Drew Arellano stood as quizmaster, wittingly kept everyone entertained and at the same time high-strung with questions on Science, Math, Languages, Literature, and General Information.
Here is the list of the champions from the most recent digital quiz:
Rupert Stephen Charles Chua of Tarlac Montessori School, Tarlac City is hailed the high school division champion and Joshua Abiezer Marayag of Lorma Colleges, La Union is the grade school division champion of the Pasiklaban sa Paaralan National Finals for school year 2014-2015. Trailing close behind, taking first runner-up and second runner-up spots in the high school division went to Aeron Jan Sanidad of The Quantum Acadamy Inc., General Santos City and June Lorenz Capin of University of Nueva Caceres, Naga City respectively; while Andrea Nicole Masangkay of Holy Trinity School, Batangas was the first runner-up and Emirozz Czarlene Labaria of Bohol Wisdom School, Tagbilaran City was the second runner-up in the grade school division.
From 2009 to 2015 alone, Pasiklaban has been to more than 300 locations, has visited more than 3000 schools, and has attracted the participation of more than 6000 students. Where Pasiklaban is going next is something that should excite us – both in terms of location and technology. As Pasiklaban is getting ready for its 15th anniversary, we too should start getting all hyped up for the surprises the original, unequaled mobile quiz show will unleash on its SY 2015-2016 kickoff at SmartKids Asia Philippines this August.
