ILOILO CITY, Philippines— Pnoy and his allies proudly announced some enormous projects in Iloilo City. These projects, according to them was made possible by political unity and of the administration’s “daang matuwid” (straight path or good governance) program.
Aquino gave a speech before 300 officials, government and employees at the Iloilo provincial capitol, and he said, “That is ‘daang matuwid.’ We are focusing on the construction of roads, bridges, airports, ports and other important infrastructure.”
The president was gladly surprised when he found out that two national roads in Iloilo province named after his parents—the 14.8-km President Corazon C. Aquino Avenue and the 15.6-km Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue.
Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson also updated the President on ongoing and completed infrastructure projects in the city and the province. The President said that people’s lives could improve through right infrastructure projects. “We are experiencing the fruits of our reform agenda,” he added.
