The Hughes Fire broke out near Lake Hughes Road in Castaic, California, on January 22, 2025, and quickly spread due to strong winds and dry conditions. Over 9,400 acres have burned, forcing mandatory evacuations for more than 31,000 people and placing thousands more on high alert.
With no containment as of now, hundreds of firefighters are battling the flames, while key roads like Interstate 5 have been closed to support emergency operations. Even the Pitchess Detention Center had to be evacuated as a precaution.

It’s heartbreaking to see so many families displaced and lives disrupted. Please also pray for my son and his family, who also evacuated and are currently seeking safety amidst this devastating fire. Your thoughts and prayers mean so much during this difficult time.
If you’re in the area, please stay safe, follow evacuation orders, and keep updated through official channels. Our thoughts go out to everyone affected.
