A Depository in Mindanao has been recently opened by the Department of Social Work and Development. The said warehouse is anticipated to hold up to 60,000 family food packs during calamities.
The DSWD-Mindanao Resource and Operations Center was constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways-Davao City District Engineering Office (DPWH-DCDEO) with an initial budget of P7.4 million.
To complete the structure and make it fully functional, DSWD-Field Office XI requested for an additional P12.4 million from the Central Office.
DSWD Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman said, “We are preparing this warehouse for nationwide operations, set to respond to a bigger scale of disaster operations.”
Additional warehouses are set to be constructed in Clark Air Base in Pampanga and Cebu.
